Dog Sponsor Program

Join the team for 2018 / 2019 – Sponsor a dog

By sponsoring one of our dogs you become a huge part of the team and its pursuits this season, particularly the Yukon Quest. Everything we raise is put straight back into the dogs and helps them better prepare for getting to the finish line or developing them for the future. This season we have a pool of 19 contenders for the Yukon Quest and 7 additional development dogs who are the future. We only accept one sponsor per dog, that dog becomes yours for the season and you are free to contact us anytime to see how that dog is going, plus we will send out updates as we can. We will send you a photo of the dog and if it makes the Yukon Quest team you will also get that dogs Yukon Quest tag that it wears throughout the race as well as its finishing booties. We truly value everyone that joins the team and supports us as we prepare to take on the challenges ahead.

Arrow

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2017– Togo, Minnesota

Arrow is from a breeding between Griz (Swedish) and Dent (Nelson) that produced a litter of 6.  This is her first season training and also one of the standouts.  She is tiny but this little dog is stacked full of attitude which she is learning to channel nicely.  Arrow like her sister Shield had shown potential to lead in the future.  Also like her sisters its evil!

Bow

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2017– Togo, Minnesota

Bow is from a breeding between Griz (Swedish) and Dent (Nelson) that produced a litter of 6.  This is her first season training and this girl is tough.  She sustained a wrist injury early in the season and has since crashed miles on to catch up with her siblings. Bow has huge potential for next season. She is sweet but like her sisters it has an evil side and is learning manners.

Brig

Position: Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  October 2015 – Togo, Minnesota

Brig was bred by Jamie Nelson.  This guy is a little shy but doesn’t take long to come around.  Brig has a bit more of a serious nature but once he gets to know you he lets his personality come out a little more.  He has a stunning glossy jet black coat which makes his light brown / yellow eyes stand out.  Much like a Panther, a very unique look.  He is one tough boy and is bound to have huge potential.  Very excited to work with Brig going forward, this dog will become something special.

Dagger

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2017– Togo, Minnesota

Dagger is from a breeding between Griz (Swedish) and Dent (Nelson) that produced a litter of 6.  This is his first season training, Dagger is like a goofy puppy with his floppy ears and beautiful blue / brown coat.  It took him a little longer to find his feet but Dagger has settled in nicely and is looking like a strong prospect for the future.

Draeger

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  9th October 2015 – Willow, Alaska

A breeding between Skye (Mackey) x Kroc (King x Buser). Draeger is a second generation of our own breedings, like his brothers and sister they where slow starters but have turned into some of the strongest dogs in the team and have had a great 2018 training season. Draeger is the most social of his brothers, supper cuddly and lets you know when he wants it. We are excited about what this season will bring for him.

Dredd

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2015 – Togo, Minnesota

Dredd was a dog we initial acquired to support TV & Film work in New Zealand.  However he turned out to be to good in harness to deny him from a racing career.  So Dredds big screen aspirations have been put on hold for now.  He has turned into a really nice sled dog and already shown leader potential.  Like all the others he is also a very affectionate dog.

Finn

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  9th October 2015 – Willow, Alaska

A breeding between Skye (Mackey) x Kroc (King x Buser). Finn is a second generation of our own breedings. Like his brothers and sister he had a slow start, but this season he has found his own.  As powerful as his brothers are Finn is the strongest, possibly the strongest dog in the team, but it comes with a catch, he is his own dog. Very affection but has to do it in his own way.  He can come across a little shy but turn your back on him and he is all over you.  Meet him on the roof of his house and it is cuddle time.  Another dog we are super excited about this season.

Griz

Position – Main Leader

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  23 June 2013 – Sweden

Griz was not a planned addition to the two team but after we saw her run it was hard to turn her away.  She has an effortless gait and the attitude to make things happen.  Small but with heaps of punch behind her she has learnt to lead has become one of the key dogs up front.  She is also a super affectionate little girl.  Let her inside and you have a sweet little stalker.  Loves her cuddles.  We expect big things from grim upfront.

Kirby

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  9th October 2015 – Willow, Alaska

A breeding between Skye (Mackey) x Kroc (King x Buser). Kirby is a second generation of our own breedings.  Like his two brothers and sister he had a slow start, but equally like them he has become one of the strongest dogs in the team. Kirby has also shown huge potential to be a strong leader with a little more work.  He isn’t shy like Finn and not as outgoing as Drager.  He however has a very affectionate side but just isn’t over the top in demanding it.  Kirby is another dog we are very excited about this season.

Koal

Position – Main Leader

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  2013– Togo, Minnesota

Koal is a monster, a big black boy that adds a huge amount of power and talent to the front end.  You ask Koal to go and there is no questioning, regardless of what’s in front of you. Where other dogs might think there are better ways through or around something, Koal will drive straight through.  So it pays to get your commands correct.  He is built like a bulldozer up front and knows how to use it. At the same time Koal is very laid back about life, nothing that happens around him phases him much and like all the guys he has his soft side as well.  Loves to nibble on your chin when you are cuddling him.

Kroc

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  2010 – Togo, Minnesota

Kroc is brother to Gator and one of our own breedings between a Martin Buser girl (Pandora) that we own and a friends Jeff King dog.  Kroc is similar in size to his brother but with a heavier coat, he is the goofball of the pair.  A dog that is always happy and see’s the brighter side of everything.  A beautiful moving and hard working dog with stacks of potential.  Kroc has been slower to mature mentally but in 2014 hit his stride having a strong season running two one thousand mile races back to back.

Lance

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  12 December 2013 – Sweden

Lance joined us after having made the trip over from Scandinavia. One of the biggest and furriest dogs in the team he has turned into a nice working dog.  The big guy has a very cuddly attitude and knows how to get your attention when he wants it.

Ledge

Position: Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  2014 – Togo, Minnesota

This cool little girl loves to run.  Bred by Jamie Nelson she is sister to Summit and Ridge who also join the team.  Ledge can be a little shy at first but once she gets to know you she is a very sociable girl and she loves to run. She does have a bit of attitude though which at times she struggles to control, but with more miles Ledge is learning how to manage it. Ledge much like her sister makes it look very easy and this season has started running lead.

Lead Dog Sponsor – $500.00

Morgan

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  09 October 2015 – Willow, Alaska

A breeding between Skye (Mackey) x Kroc (King x Buser). Morgan is a second generation of our own breedings, like her brothers they where slow starters but she has really found her way this season and is developing into a solid reliable sled dog.  Morgan takes very much after her grandmother Pandora, looks very similar and has the same affectionate attitude. We are excited about what this season will bring for him.

Reaper

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  2012 – Willow, Alaska

Reaper is the spitting image of his dad Tackle.  He also has a very similar personality.  Tackle was a high energy dog that had a lot of attitude that he channeled into running to become one of our key dogs before we unexpectedly lost him in 2013.  Reaper is turning out to be very similar and seems a natural in harness.  A very affectionate happy dog that can’t stand still, lots of energy.

Ridge

Position: Leader

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  2014 – Togo, Minnesota

Ridge is brother to Ledge and Summit.  Bred, raised and trained by Jamie Nelson this boy catches your eye.  A big black dog that has an impressive build and an awesome coat to show it off.  He is not only a handsome guy but equally as impressive in harness punching some serious power into any team he is part of and is also turning into a very nice leader.  Ridge has a huge personality to go with it all, a very fun dog that throws himself around with excitement anytime you decide to pay him a visit.  Not to sure if he knows how big he really is.  A really fun dog that will become something very special.

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  June 2016– Togo, Minnesota

Sam

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  October 2013 – Togo, Minnesota

Sam is a very unique dog, to be honest we have never met anything like Sam. Sam was bred and raised by Jamie Nelson, she might question at times if she wants to lay claim to this guy.  The biggest thing we learnt when we started running Alaskan Huskies is not to judge a book by its cover.  When it comes to Sam it couldnt be more true.  A medium sized powerfully built Alaskan that sits at his house with his floppy tipped ears that is struggling to contain his excitment.  But he will, only just, he comes across like a labrador at the beach siting there waiting for you to through his ball….over and over.  That excitment becomes harder to control when the harness is introduced and the closer it gets to the action it just starts to loose itself and the patient part of Sam fizzles into an uncontrolable beast.  Sam injects power into the team, power which he is still learning to manage.  He has a huge personality and some of this can be attributed to the fact that Sam realy missed out uptsairs, if there was a IQ test to become a sled dog then Sam realy would have missed out on his calling.  I doudt Sam knows why he has to do things the way he does, but he is good at it and loves it. Sam is awesome!

Team Dog Sponsor – $300.00

Scout

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  11 April 2016– Willow, Alaska

A breeding between Grin (Nelson) x Bolt (Nelson). Scout is a first generation of our own breedings. Scout is a bit of a wild child, a very affectionate dog but is a little crazy.  Simple tasks are not always that simple with Scout as it wiggles, curls up into a ball and generally knows how to make things a little difficult.  However her wild side is starting to be channeled nicely into her work in harness.  Scout has had a very strong season for a young dog and is showing huge potential. A really fun dog that we are very excited about for the future, Scout will no doubt be a key dog going forward.

Shield

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2017– Togo, Minnesota

Shield is from a breeding between Griz (Swedish) and Dent (Nelson) that produced a litter of 6.  This is her first season training and this wild animal has really excelled.  Shield currently is proving to be the pick of the litter.  Noisy, lots of attitude and drive to back it up.  Shield is already showing potential to be a leader.  Super excited about the future of this dog.  But like her sisters she can be evil, hence the four girls earned the nickname “The Rats”.

Smudge

Position – Leader

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2015 – Togo, Minnesota

Smudge is a pretty cool little girl.  Very happy go lucky attitude who is proving to be a little star.  She is Dreads sister and like Dredd has really early stood up this year.  Smudge showed early leader potential and has really taken to being up front.  Another dog with so much potential.

Spear

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2017– Togo, Minnesota

Spear is from a breeding between Griz (Swedish) and Dent (Nelson) that produced a litter of 6.  This is her first season training and is the nicest of all the girls, lacks the evil little personality her three sisters have.  Like Dagger Spear took a little longer to find her feet but she has really come along and a prospect for the future.

Summit

Position: Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  2014 – Togo, Minnesota

Summit is sister to Ledge and Ridge, also bred by Jamie Nelson.  This little girl has stacks of energy, non stop running around all day long at high speed and still has plenty left to standout in harness.  Summit has had a great season and like her sister also learnt to lead this season. She moves effortlessly and is a fun super friendly little girl.

Lead Dog Sponsor – $500.00

Taizer

Position – Main Leader

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  2009 – Togo, Minnesota

Taizer is the oldest dog in the team, but this year she is the backbone for what is predominately a young and inexperienced team.  She is a gifted dog that has finished every race she has ever started and finished them all easily.  She now has six 1000 mile finishes including back to back finishes in the Yukon Quest and Iditarod in 2014.  A tough girl that has a crazy attitude.  Very happy, loving and the funniest behavior.  Nothing gets Taizer down and she can drive you crazy at times trying to do the simplest things as she thinks everything is a game. This year she will over take her parents in 1000mile finishes, her dad “Scotch” had five and her mum “Becky” had six. After this season Taizer will retire to the tours in New Zealand.

Race History:  White Oak Classic 2011, Copper Basin 300 2012/2013/2016, Iditarod 2012/2013/2014/2015/2016, Yukon Quest 2014

Trident

Position – Team Dog

Breed: Alaskan Husky
Born:  May 2017– Togo, Minnesota

Trident is from a breeding between Griz (Swedish) and Dent (Nelson) that produced a litter of 6.  This is his first season training and Trident is one of the standout yearlings who is in the development pool for 2020 race season where he will no doubt feature heavily in the team.
